Moderating Detectors
First, read Ephy's post on Not Another EO Blog. This post was... 'inspired' by that one.
Vult and his DAMN detectors are driving me insane. Today, I was trotting along alone with a mass of Cranes chasing me. All of a sudden, lag, freeze. Died.
If you're a cop, sitting by the highway with a speed detector. Two cars go by, one slow, one fast. The slow one registed a speed 5 mph over the speed limit, the fast one is 20 miles below.
YOUR DETECTOR IS BROKEN. DO NOT USE IT.
I don't think a single speeder has been caught by the speed detector. I doubt it even hindered them. It uses a client side clock. Isn't the problem the fact that these people are hacking client side stuff? My God.
Also, the 'Hello Haxor' message is retarded. What triggers it? It doesn't work. :[
Now, let's assume he manages to make a decent detector.
Now people can all focus on the fact that we're being ksed, harassed, and hacked. A detector can't detect slang terms. 'OMFG YOU DAMN NIGGERS NEED TO STFU AND FUCK OFF' -kses them.-
What detector can detect that?
It can't. They'll just make a slang term, or use an existing slang term. Block that word too, and the next and the next. I promise, a single programmer isn't going to outlast 4,000 active players.
Now what is the miracle cure for the fact that detectors can't handle those types of problems?
I have a concept that no one has talked about. Ever. Not on any blogs, or any forums, and not in the game either! :O

Recruit moderators, or ask the existing admins to moderate. I can give anyone a long list of people who could do the job.
When people in a game have to form together in some attempt at moderation, you have a problem. It doesn't take freaking Einstein to see that.
But I think I've figured it out.
Vult's one of those people who want to find AI. He wants to revolutionize gaming and make a game with no human moderators.
People should stop watching Sci-Fi. We'll have machines with human logic in a few centuries. Not a few years.
Anyway, the fight continues. 4,000 people can't sway a single programmer. I even have reason to believe that the admins are all wanting moderators too. Besides Vult, of course.
If Vult wants to make all these detectors, please, he should hire mods in the meantime. So that he can focus on these things, and take his time. And test them effectively with the TEST server.
Rant's over. Can I get an amen? CAN I GET A FREAKING AMEN?!!!!!

He has mods they just dont come on and do their duties as mods.
Before he gets new mods I think he needs to wake his current staff up. Because maybe if they all woke up we might not even need other mods?
@Bajz: The current admin team just about managed to a good job back in v17-ish, whenthere was only 100 players. We're talking about over 1,000 at any given time now.
As for Vult trying to be revolutionary, there's just no way... Im pretty sure a lot of games have tried something like this to save hiring moderators - especially pay-to-play ones, who actually PAY their GMs. If a large team of professionals working for a big company can't manage it, what are the chances that Vult can?
The current team did good back then because they were active. How active are they now? =P

I mentioned that he should at least get his current mods to mod. But they're not freaking mods. They're developers. Why did I only get one amen? D: -Sets fire to everyone else.-
And Vult is like me. The fact that others have failed doesn't hit me. People have done harder things before.
He also has another belief of mine, assuming I'm even right about this.
He figures if you try something 100 times, 1,000 times, 1,000,000 times, it's going to work. =]
But, sadly, as true as that statement is, he's going to lose the game before he gets to 1,000,000 tries. :[

Actually, he on VERY rare occasion reads blogs. Also, Rexor reads blogs out of boredom, and I got a comment from Arvid that makes me think he MIGHT.
But it's more to just gather more people and infuriate them more. Hey, we should do a protest walk in the capital of the Netherlands. And a riot! Blow stuff up!

Ok, it's clear that Vult is a bit... crazy. I bet in $10 that he's not going to get any moderators.
Ok, here are the ideas.
1. Record while playing the game and send all recordings which include any spammer, speeder etc. activity.
2. Send the recordings to Vult and wait for the response. 1 last warning and --> ip ban or account deletion.
We should at least see WOULD Vult do anything even if he could. I bet I can get at least 10 speeders/h.
And OMG!! A truck load of spammers on global. And what does he do about it --> shut down global and ruin the game even more. *?????* Is it SO HARD to detect spammers?? A 4 year old kid could do it for sure.
And of course Vult doesn't see what's going on. He's on once a month!! ("Our job is to open his eyes." -deleted (Intelus)) We need to send the video to him and make him (!!), I repeat: "Make him!!" see what's going on. Btw his excuse is "This is just our hobby so don't expect that...". Something like that (EO forum).
You (espii) said you quit eo, but that's the last thing you should do (if you want to make eo a better game). But I can't blame you... Who would want to make some [little, nooby, crappy (at the moment) - deleted] game better if there are loads of other games several times better than this. I mean... Diablo II is great. But those who do care (read: don't have nothing better to do than to sit for hours infront of their monitor and watch all nooby speeders/spammers/ksers/hackers... run around and make everyones game experience bad) should do this... at least to see if Vult does want to do something or not.
